SAMIA
Among the vast diversity of offerings available in contemporary media, it’s still rare to find extraordinary stories that simply have to make it onto the big screen: this is the story told in the book by Giuseppe Catozzella: “Don’t tell me you’re afraid”.
The novel not only provides a poignant insight into the life of the talented Somali runner SAMIA Yusuf Omar, but also manages to explain why people from Africa risk a long and perilous sea journey. Their hopes and why, for many of them, Europe is the last chance. A chance to lead a life worth living. A chance to help themselves and their own families. A chance to be yourself.
We are delighted to present the extraordinary life story of SAMIA YUSUF OMAR with our co-production partners from INDICA FILM (Turin) and FILMQUADRAT.DOk (Munich).
We have already completed the first step; we received funding for the screenplay for the project from FFF-Bayern (a company that promotes media in Bavaria, Germany).
Status: in development
Filming scheduled for 2018/2019
