Yasemin Şamdereli was born and grew up in Germany. After highschool she went straight to the Munich Filmschool (Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film) and started her studies in the fiction class. While being a filmstudent she made several internships on inernational filmsets. Two of those whre with filmmaker Jackie Chan. Her finishing film from filmstudies a shortflilm entitled KISMET was screened on several renowned filmfestivals won the Short Tiger Award. After two television features she did her cinema debut ALMANYA-WELCOME TO GERMANYIN, which had it´s worlspremiere at the Berlinale 2011. The movie won several important awards. Within those was the silver LOLA for best picture from the German Filmacademay and the golden LOLA for best script.
